SEQUENCE: ORDER OF EVENTS
About
this article We understand when a reading is taking a sequence in terms of the
chronology of the facts related text.
Article
explains when the author tells a story. should tell the story from the
beginning, however, when telling the story, you can integrate another wording
relative to that counts, like a interruption.
this
interruption in the story is called: FLASHBACK
· We
will leave the example from this lesson is to better understand the Reading:
EXAMPLE:
The
loud knocking woke Isaac from a deep sleep. Who would be out in Lexington at
this time of night? Downstairs, Isaac´s father opened the door. “The regulars
are out! Be ready” The stranger announced.
Isaac
was thrilled by the news, but no surprised. He remembered how is father had
trained with the other patriots last summer. Though father was usually quick
with a smile or a witty Word, he had taken is training very seriously. Isaac
also recalled how, just last week, father had argued with Sam Collins about the
supplies at Concord. “Those weapons will spell trouble for us all”. Sam has
warned.
Father´s
boots thumped up the stairs to Isaac room. “The militia is gathering on the
Green, Isaac” he said. “You´ll need to take charge at home for a little while”.
As
you can see the reading there is a phrase that says:
· Isaac´s father trained with other patriots à this phrase its a FLASHBACK
because is something that happened in another time but its related to the
present.
· Sam Collins and Isaac´s father argued about the supplies à its a FLASHBACK because Isaac also recalled
how, just last week, father had argued with Sam Collins, this event happened
time back and is interrupting the events of this momento. However they are
helpful to relate the story.
